Preschool Recycled Christmas Card Wreath

The Preschool Christmas Card Wreath is made from a recycled paper grocery sack and recycled Christmas cards. This is very simple to do, though young preschoolers who cannot use scissors yet will need adult help cut the Christmas cards into shapes for decoration. However, even if s/he isn't ready for scissors, s/he will still enjoy the beauty of the recycled Christmas cards and gluing them onto the Preschool Recycled Christmas Card Wreath.

Stapler
Green tempera paint
Paintbrush
Old Christmas cards (precut into shapes for young preschooler)

Beginning at one corner, twist diagonally until you have something resembling a brown paper rope.

Step 4:
Form the “rope” into a circle and staple the ends together.

Using the white glue, attach the shapes to the wreath until the entire surface is covered with colorful shapes.

Step 8:
Glue pre-made bow at the top of the wreath.

Step 9:
Tie on ribbon for hanging.

Helpful Tips for Parents

Tip 1:
This can be a messy craft. Be sure to do it in a place where this will not be a problem.

Tip 2:
Make sure you and your preschooler are both wearing clothes you do not care about. Though children’s paints are labeled “washable”, this means washable from surfaces such as tables and walls, not necessarily washable from clothing.

Tip 3:
Christmas cookie cutters and preschool coloring books make good templates for ornament shapes.
