Paper Plate Preschool Halloween Pumpkin Mask

The Paper Plate Preschool Halloween Pumpkin Mask is a variation of the Basic Preschool Paper Plate Mask.  While masks that are attached to your preschooler’s face by strings or elastic around the head can make it hard for him/her to see, the Paper Plate Pumpkin Halloween Preschool Mask is hand-held so your preschool child can easily move it away if s/he needs to see better. Preschool children love to play pretend and Halloween gives them a great opportunity to do this.

Materials You Will Need

1 orange paper plate
Crayons or Marking pens
Scissors
Craft Glue
A craft stick
Green construction paper

How to Make it

Step 1:
Have your preschooler draw a Jack-o-lantern face on the paper plate.

Step 2:Make starter holes in the eyes, nose, and mouth and have him/her cut them out.

Step 3:
Have your preschooler cut a square from the green construction paper and glue it to the top of the plate for the pumpkin stem.

Step 4:
Turn the plate over and glue the craft stick to the bottom part of the back for a handle. Allow to dry completely.

Step 5:
If your preschooler wishes, s/he can add extra touches such as raffia or yarn for hair, eyebrows, or anything s/he might like to include in order to personalize his/her mask.

Helpful Tip for Parents

If you cannot find orange paper plates, your preschool can paint his mask orange with tempera paint after s/he has cut out the features.
