Paper Sack Luminaria Preschool Halloween Craft

The Paper Sack Luminaria Preschool Halloween Craft is another alternative to the traditional jack-o-lantern. It is one of the simplest preschool crafts to make and almost everyone of every age likes to make them. The Paper Sack Luminaria Preschool Halloween Craft is also very inexpensive since you can use paper lunch sacks as the main portion of the craft.

Materials You Will Need

Paper lunch sacks any solid color, even plain brown
Orange tissue paper
Halloween Cookie Cutters
Pencil
Scissors
Glue
Light sticks (one for each luminaria)
Sand, rice, or dried beans

Step 1:
Lay the paper sack flat on the table with the opening at the top. Trace around the cookie cutters to make two or three Halloween designs. Leave some space in between the shapes; do the same on the opposite side.

Step 2:
Open the sack. Make a starter hole in the center of each design and cut them out.

Step 3:
Cut squares of orange tissue paper that are large enough to cover the Halloween cutouts.

Step 4:
With the sack open and the side you are working on down on the table, glue the orange tissue paper over the cutouts. Make sure the cutouts are completely covered with the tissue paper. Do the same with the other side; allow to dry completely.

Step 5:
When you are ready to use the luminaria, place sand, rice, or dried beans in the bottom of each sack to weight it down, then activate a light stick and put it inside the sack.

Uses For Your Halloween Luminarias

Halloween luminarias look especially inviting along a walkway. The are also great for decorating both indoor and outdoor tables. You can add them to your Halloween displays for extra lighting. Covering them with a light layer of artificial spider web can add a haunting, eerie look.

Use halloween luminarias in the Scarecrow and Company Halloween Porch Display if you would like a friendly rather than spooky look for your display.
