Black Tissue Paper Roses Preschool Halloween Craft
The Black Tissue Paper Roses Preschool Halloween Craft is a craft for families to share. Preschoolers may have trouble folding the paper and cutting out the shape, but they will be able to wrap the tissue paper around the chenille stick to form the rose. If the rose isn’t perfectly shaped, all the better. The Black Tissue Paper Roses Preschool Halloween Craft is meant to be spooky rather than pretty. Place a bouquet of black tissue paper roses on your table and spread artificial spider webs over them to make a spooky centerpiece for your Halloween party or dinner.
Materials You Will Need
1 sheet of 20-inch by 28-inch tissue paper for each rose
1 black chenille stick for each rose
Black masking tape
Artificial rose leaves or leaves cut from black construction paper (optional)
How to Make it
Step 1:
Cut two 8-inch wide strips of tissue paper along the 28-inch length. Fold each strip over so that you have two 4-inch wide, 28-inch long pieces.
Step 2:
Accordion pleat one strip in 3-inch folds. In other words, fold first one way and then the next back the other way as you would to make a chain of paper dolls. You should have a 3-inch wide packet at the end. If there is a bit left over, just leave it there. It will tuck in when the rose is rolled.
Step 3:
Cut an arch shape in the packet, cutting through all layers. Leave the bottom inch between the sections connected and uncut.
Step 4:
Unfold the pleats but leave it folded double.
Step 5:
Tape the entire edge of one end of the paper to the end of a chenille stick. Tightly roll the paper around the chenille stick to form the center portion of a rose. Secure it with another piece of black masking tape.
Step 6:
Repeat steps 2 through 4 with the other strip of paper.
Step 7:
Attach the second strip where the previous strip ended and continue to wrap around the chenille stick to form the outer petals. Secure with black masking tape.
Step 8:
Tape leaves to the chenille stick if desired. You can paint artificial rose leaves from the craft store black or make black construction paper leaves.
