Preschool Family Christmas Wreath
One great way to get your family together during holiday time is to get them involved in making the Preschool Family Christmas Wreath. Since this wreath celebrates your family, you will want to keep it year after year.You may even want to make a new Preschool Family Christmas Wreath each year as your family grows in either number or size.
This craft requires the use of a matte knife which should be used only by the adults in the family.
Materials you will Need
1 sheet of poster board or foam core board
2 or more shades of green poster board
Photographs of each family member
A family portrait
Clear vinyl adhesive
White glue
Large picture hanger
How to Make It.
Step 1:
Cut a large circle from the poster board or foam core board with the matte knife.
Step 2:
Draw an inner circle to mark the inside boundary of the wreath, but do not cut it out.
Step 3:
Have each family, one at a time, place both hands, fingers spread wide, on the green poster board, a little bit apart. Trace each hand. Make extra hands for filler as needed.
Step 4:
Cut out the hands, carefully labeling which hand is whose. Family members should cut out their own hand shapes as they are able
Step 5:
Cut strips from the scraps of the poster board.
Step 6:
Each family member should turn the hands palm down with pinkies together. Glue a strip of poster board between them to hold them together.
Step 7:
Turn the hands palms up and glue the picture of the family member in the center of the hands. Allow to dry
Step 8:
Cover with clear adhesive vinyl. Trim as necessary.
Step 9:
Glue family hands and pitches around the wreath, evenly spaced.
Step 10:
If there are not enough hands to cover the wreath, cut extra hands and fill in randomly.
Step 11:
Glue the family portrait into the center of the wreath.
Step 12:
Glue the large picture hanger onto the back of the top of the wreath. Make sure that you use very strong glue.
