What You Need
Clear Glass Plate or Platter (smooth glass)Mod Podge Glue
Wrapping Paper Scraps
Colorful Tissue Paper
Clear Varnish (optional)
How To Make It
Step One:Either tear pieces of the wrapping paper or cut out specific designs. Then, put a layer of Mod Podge onto the under side of the clean, dry platter.
Step Two:
While the glue is wet, carefully apply the wrapping paper pieces to it with the print side down (so it will show through to the front of the plate). Arrange them in an attractive design.
Step Three:
Apply a coat of the Mod Podge over the under side of the platter again, covering the wrapping paper as well. If there are any “holes” apply pieces of colored tissue paper to fill in.
Step Four:
Apply one more coat of Mod Podge and let it dry. As a option, you can put a layer of varnish over the finished underside. Be sure not to submerge the platter. Simply wipe clean with a cloth after use.
Variation
You can purchase inexpensive plates at a second hand store and decorate with the above technique to give as gifts at Christmas time. Fill with cookies or other baked goods for a great present.Like this article? Get more like it in your inbox. Subscribe today to our free weekly newsletter.
