Four Large Sheets of Tissue Paper
Two Chenille Stems
White Glue
Crayons or Markers
Optional: Other embellishments to glue on for decoration
Bend the hook part of both of the hangers to the side, they are going to become the antennae of the butterfly. Then use the chenille stems to attach the hangers together (where they are twisted) to form the butterfly shape.
Step Two:
Now you will add the tissue paper to make the wings. Lay the tissue out on your work surface. Add a line of glue along one of the wire “wings” then lay it on the tissue.
Step Three:
Run another line of glue onto the top side of the wire then lay another piece of tissue on top.
Step Four:
Repeat for the other wing. Then let everything dry.
Step Five:
Have your preschooler carefully color the wings. You can add other embellishments such as sequins, stickers, ribbons, etc. to make the finished butterfly even more interesting.
Step Six:
When the decorating is done and everything is dry, bend the butterfly so it looks like it is flying. Hang it from the ceiling in your preschoolers room to bring a little bit of nature indoors!
