Bend a chenille stem into the desired shape. Some ideas are snowflakes, stars, hearts, squares, circles, etc.

Step Two:
Use the pencils to suspend the shapes in the container by tying them on with string. Make sure there is enough room so the shapes do not touch the sides or each other.

Step Three:
ADULT: Start boiling enough water to fill the glass container to the top. Pour Borax into the container – about 1/4 cup for every 2 cups of water. When water boils, pour into container and stir until Borax dissolves.

Step Four:
Carefully lower the shapes into the mixture and leave them suspended overnight. When you wake up in the morning, you will have crystal covered shapes that you can make into ornaments, frames, jewelry and more!

Variations

You can use this technique to create little crystal animals, embellishments for cards, or other types of gifts.
