Spring Flower Basket Preschool Craft

SpringBasket ©mcmath 2007When spring flowers start to bloom it is such a delight! Let your preschooler share some of the joys that flowers bring with this Spring Flower Basket Preschool Craft. It’s so easy to make you will be able to construct one for each of your neighbors in no time at all. And even if you don’t have a flower garden for filling them, you can use artificial blooms for an equally striking presentation.

What You Need

Difficulty Level 2 out of 5Thick, Sturdy Paper Plate
Chenille Stem
Pens, Paints, Stickers, etc. (for decorating basket)
Scissors
Stapler
Fresh or Artificial Flowers

How To Make It

Step One
Cut the paper plate in half. Then, with right sides in, staple it together, making a little pocket.

Step Two
Let your preschooler decorate the basket how they choose. Paint it, use markers, add ribbons, buttons, etc. Make it look really festive.

Step Three
Fashion the chenille stem into a handle by poking it through the paper plate. This is a job best suited for the adults.

Step Four
Fill with flowers and present it to friends, family, and neighbors!

Variations

This is the perfect project for May Day. If you are not familiar with May Day, do a little internet research and share the tradition with your preschooler.
