Rocky the Turtle Nature Preschool Craft

Here’s a new version of the classic pet rock – Rocky the Turtle. Your preschooler will have fun decorating his shell and adding him to your yard or garden décor. Not many supplies needed for this nature preschool craft – rock, craft spoons, glue and embellishments. So go outside and search for the perfect pet rock with your preschooler today.

What You Need

The Perfect Rock
5 Wooden Craft Spoons
Glue
Embellishments – googlie eyes, sequins, paint, yarn, etc.
Spray Varnish – optional for semi-waterproofing

How To Make It

Step One:
Find your rock and decide which side will be the top. Glue 4 of the craft spoons on legs and the last one as a head.

Step Two:
Let your preschooler decorate the “shell,” legs, and head with paint, sequins, glitter, etc. Add googlie eyes if you have them.

Step Three: optional
Spray with several coats of spray varnish to make the turtle semi-waterproof if you plan to leave it outside in the weather. Now you’re done – place Rocky the Turtle in a prominent place in your home or yard!

Variations

See if you can make other little animals with different size rocks you may find - a little mouse, a snail, a crab.
