Paper Plate Fan

Here is a simple and quick just for fun preschool craft – a paper plate fan to help you cool off on warm, summer days! Preschoolers can decorate them anyway they would like and even personalize them for themselves or other friends and family members. Just a few simple supplies, which you probably already have around the house, are all that is needed to create this quick preschool craft.

As with any preschool craft, this is a suggestion of how to make it. You can modify the instructions to work for you and your family and the supplies you have on hand.

What You Will Need

2 white paper plates
Popsicle sticks or tongue depressors
Glue stick and/or tape
Paint, markers, stickers, etc. for decorating

How to Make It

Step One:

Let your preschooler decorate the top of one plate and the bottom of another any way he/she chooses. You can suggest themes if you would like or leave it as an open ended, creative endeavor.

Step Two:

Glue or tape the two undecorated sides together with the tongue depressor glued or taped in between. See photo.

Variations

You can change this preschool craft into an educational tool by writing a large letter on one of the plates and let your preschooler decorate the other plate with things that start with that letter. For example, A on one plate, apple, acorn, and ant on the other plate. Make several then use them as flash cards. You can also make funny faces on the plates and use them as masks.
