This quick and easy Paper Plate Butterfly Puppet takes no time to make and when you’re done, your preschooler will have a great little puppet to include in their imaginative play. This everyday preschool craft makes it easy to include a little bit of craft time in your preschooler’s schedule.

2 Paper Plates
Scissors
Stapler
Paint Dotters or Markers
Chenille Stems

Step One:
Draw a butterfly on the backside of one of the paper plates. Let your preschooler color it any way they choose.

Step Two:
Fold the butterfly in half, decorated side in.

Cut the other paper plate in half, then trim off about an inch from each cut end.

Step Four:
Staple the cut plate to the butterfly plate leaving a gap for your preschooler to insert his/her hand. Add the Chenille Stems for antennae and you have yourself a butterfly puppet!

Variations

Use the same technique to create other flying creatures or turn it sideways and you have a mouth that will open and close so you can create non-flying puppets.
