Keepsake Treasure Jar Everyday Preschool Craft

Do you end up with a purse full of little trinkets and treasures that your preschooler has collected? Rocks, paper clips, rubber bands, sea shells – instead of letting them clutter up your handbag or your preschooler’s room, make this Keepsake Treasure Jar Preschool Craft and you will have a place to deposit these “valuable items” and your preschooler will be able to watch their collection grow!

Difficulty Level 3 out of 5What You Need

Canning Jar with 2 piece Lid
Fabric with Fun Pattern
Small Piece of Cardboard
Cotton Balls
Scissors
Glue
Stickers To Decorate
Permanent Makers or Alphabet Stickers

How To Make It

Step One:
Layer these items face down in this order: Jar lid ring, fabric square, cotton balls, inner jar lid. Push the inner lid into place and trim off the excess fabric.

Step Two:
Cut the cardboard into a circle that will fit inside the lid and cover with fabric using glue. Then, glue it inside the lid with the fabric design face out.

Step Four:
Write your preschooler’s name and the words “Treasure Jar” on the jar with the permanent marker(or use alphabet stickers). Then, let your preschooler decorate the jar with stickers.

Step Five:
Let your preschooler add all of their little treasures and put the jar in a place for her/him to enjoy!

Variations

You can use the same jar technique to make a gift by filling the jar with candies or chocolates. Or fill with sewing supplies for another gift idea – use the jar top as a pin cushion.
