Earth Day Bag Recycler Preschool Craft

Those plastic grocery bags can really pile up. Keep them from ending up in the land fill with this Earth Day Bag Recycler Preschool Craft. Not only will you end up with an attractive way to keep those bags organized, but you will be teaching your preschooler about the importance keeping our Earth healthy and clean. This craft incorporates reducing, reusing and recycling all in one easy project!

What You Need

Empty Oatmeal Container
Paints – colors to match your kitchen and also green and blue
Optional – Embellishments like buttons, yarn etc. to decorate the box
Paint Brushes
Knife – adult use only!

How To Make It

Step One:
This step is for the adult to do. Toward the lower end of the oatmeal box you will need to cut a hole about 3 inches in diameter. This is where you will be pulling out the bags.

Step Two:
Give your preschooler some paints that coordinate with your kitchen colors and let them paint the box. On the top of the oatmeal box lid, help your preschooler paint it to look like the earth with the green and blue paints.

Step Three: optional
Add buttons, yarn, stickers, etc. to decorate the box even more.

Step Four:
Fill with all your plastic bags and feel good about how you are helping to save the Earth!

Variations

Have your preschooler make one for grandma or auntie too. When you have used the bags over and over, be sure to take them back to the grocery store. Many stores now have a plastic bag recycling program.
