You know the little plastic containers you end up with from those toy vending machines at the front of stores? Have you ever thought, “they must be good for something!” Well, here’s a clever little Candy Bug preschool craft that will recycle those plastic holders into something fun. They can hold a variety of items, from candy to coins and would make great party favors!

What You Need

Plastic Container from Toy Vending Machine
Construction Paper
Chenille Stems
Difficulty Level 3 out of 5 Googlie Eyes
Pom Poms
Glue
Tape
Scissors
Something To Put Inside – candy, coins, etc.

How To Make It

Step One:
Cut strips of construction paper to be used for the legs. Tape them to the lid of the container and fold them in a “leg” sort of way.

Step Two:
Bend chenille stem into a V shape then curl the ends to make it look like antennae. It’s best to tape into place since glue will take too long to dry.

Step Three:
Glue on the googlie eyes and a pom pom for a nose. Let it dry and you have yourself a candy bug!

Variation

You can make these as party favors for all your preschooler’s guests. Change up the design for different holidays – creepy spider for Halloween, add pink hearts for a Valentine Love Bug, or change it into an ornament for your Christmas tree.
